Position: Senior Associate, Sports and Leisure AFL Architects
Marcel Ridyard is a Senior Associate for Sports and Leisure at AFL Architects. Over his career he has worked on major sporting complexes in addition to music, entertainment and conferencing facilities, elite training centres, healthcare, offices and academic institutions.
He is currently the lead sports architect on a major football stadium and precinct overlay in Qatar as part of the FIFA World Cup preparations. Further international experience includes the design of a 45,000-capacity, IAAF and FIFA-compliant stadium in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan, for the Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games AIMAG 2017. In the UK, he was responsible for the design of Hull Venue, a 3500-capacity music, events and conferencing facility, currently under construction, that serves as a legacy project for UK City of Culture 2017.
Marcel has delivered many sports and leisure projects at AFL and believes that joining forces with consultants is the way forward for the global architectural market.
