Vusi Mazibuko

Position: General Manager, Moses Mabhida Stadium, Durban

Vusi Mazibuko has served in a variety of organisations holding key leadership positions and taking various initiatives within such organisations. Organisations include: sports bodies, political formations, community based organisations, non-governmental organisations, development forums and trade unions.

Mazibuko is currently the General Manager of Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban. Having grown and developed from a sports officer position at ML Sultan Technikon, Mazibuko has been appointed and tasked to play different roles and responsibilities since he joined eThekwini Municipality in 2004.

Some of the key roles include: the establishment of Sport and Recreation Department in the Municipality; Project Manager for the 2003 S.A. Games in Durban; Project Manager of SALGA KZN Games for 5 years; 2010 FIFA World Cup – City of Durban Work team; Project Manager for the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations Durban Host City; Member of the Durban 2022 Commonwealth Games Bid Committee.

Mazibuko holds a Master’s degree in Public Management focusing on stadia and mega events and is currently pursuing his Doctor of Philosophy in Sports Science degree.
